Lockheed Martin will deliver Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (“GMLRS”) to Israel, according to a report on yahoo.com. The rockets are fired from the M270A1 or HIMARS launcher system.
According to a publication on Lockheed Martin’s website, the 90-kg unitary warhead integrated into the GMLRS provides the ability to attack targets up to 70 kilometers away with high precision.
In the Israel Defense Forces, the system is operated by the Artillery Corps unit ‘Menatetz’. The MLRS rocket previously had a range of 42 km, and with the new upgrading, the range will increase to 70 km.
