Nigerian army says destroys Boko Haram headquarters| Reuters

The Nigerian army said on Friday it destroyed the headquarters of Boko Haram after capturing the northeastern town of Gwoza from the Islamist insurgent group.

Boko Haram seized Gwoza in August last year, declaring that they were ruling the town by Islamic law. The insurgents were believed to have held some 200 schoolgirls kidnapped from Chibok almost a year ago in the town.

The announcement of the capture of Gwoza comes a day ahead of Nigeria's presidential election in which President Goodluck Jonathan will face former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari.

Several members of Boko Haram were killed and a mop-up operation was taking place in Gwoza, the army said on its official twitter account, adding that details would follow.

The Nigerian government was not immediately available to comment.

I think, it is interesting that the nigerian army had destroyed the town and the islamist group were going to rule by their way and also, it was not good to kidnap children as it must have been scary thought. I also believe it ws good that this occured as the Islam group will have fear and maybe wake up that people will use violence and also oppose them if they do it as well. I think this will be followed up by more incidents of this and maybe freedom for the country from these sort of people and live freely.

With their "Caliphate" headquarters gone, the morale in the Boko Haram camp I suppose isn't at an all time high. Should the Nigerian army "follow through" with more ground assaults on other Boko Haram strongholds, it will be relatively easy to defeat the terrorists.
