Zhezkazgan copper-smelting plant of Kazakhmys Smelting LLP has resumed work at full capacity: the second ore smelting furnace was launched, Trend reports citing the Kazakh media.

Since 2009, the enterprise operated only one furnace due to the lack of raw materials for full load. Now, after a long break, the plant has returned to full operation.

"If for almost ten years the plant, working at half of its capacity, produced 100,000 tons of copper, thanks to the second furnace we will receive 200,000 tons," said the governor of the Karaganda region Yerlan Koshanov.

Also, the enterprise succeeded in expanding its raw material base. This was made possible thanks to the commissioning of new mining and processing facilities of KAZ Minerals LLP.

Today the design capacity of the plant is 220,000 tons of copper cathode per year. The launch of the second furnace at the plant allowed the creation of about 600 new jobs. The total number of personnel will be more than 2,000 people.

It is planned to build a plant for the production of fuel oil based on plastic and polyethylene in the city of Ridder, East Kazakhstan region, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

Etalon LLP, a company which provides services for garbage collection and disposal and road repair, intends to recycle waste. Governor of East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov expressed support for the new project during his working visit to Ridder.

"We raised the question to close the existing solid waste landfill. We intend to perform treatment of the material accumulated and produce fuel oil from it. We will use it as a raw material in summer and generate diesel from the residues in winter. We will take garbage sorting equipment from Russia and recycling equipment from Iran or China," said Viktor Strebkov, Director of Etalon LLP.

The entrepreneur intends to implement the project of environmentally vital importance at his own expense. "In addition, we will repair the roads. The money received from this will be invested in the successful project," says the businessman. "The project is promising. It all depends on how you run it. On the part of the government, we can allocate a 7 percent interest rate loan within a program of DAMU [Entrepreneurship Development Fund]," said Danial Akhmetov.

Agricultural industry is one of the drivers of the economic growth in Kazakhstan. The Government is set to strengthen agricultural development by introducing modern technologies and providing support to farmers. As part of the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry’s development program, the milk and poultry production in Kazakhstan will be tripled in the next 10 years. A meat processing complex and 16 dairy farms will also be built in Akmola and Karagandy regions by 2021. All these measures are aimed at eliminating import of dairy products and chicken meat.
Digital transformation is also yielding positive results in agricultural sector. New technologies allow farmers to efficiently keep records. A mobile application developed in one of the farms in West Kazakhstan region sparked interest among owners of neighboring livestock enterprises. It is a tracking system which requires a cell phone with a GPS beacon. Farmers put mobile phone around one of the animal’s necks to search for the lost herd.
The same mobile application allows farmers to keep track of their livestock. Animals on the farm are provided with radio frequency tags. The farmers attached the tags on the cattle for electronic identification. All data is stored in the Agriculture Ministry’s database. Through the application, farmers can access this database and make changes in the animal’s passport. The farmer’s idea was supported by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov met with the Ambassador of Tajikistan Nazirmad Alizoda on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan, Trend reports via Avesta News Agency.

The foreign minister thanked the Tajik diplomat for his contribution to the development of Kazakh-Tajik relations and his merits in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry noted that during Alizoda's term, a number of important documents were signed between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, including the Strategic Partnership Agreement.

On the same day, Atamkulov had a telephone conversation with his Tajik counterpart Sirodjiddin Muhriddin, discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction within international organizations, including within the CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia).

Special attention was paid to the implementation of the agreements reached at the level of the heads of state of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Emomali Rakhmon on enhancing trade and economic cooperation and increasing bilateral trade.

The gradual growth in commodity turnover between the two countries was noted, as well as the prerequisites for its increase to $1 billion in 2019 and to $2 billion in 2020 according to the guidelines of the heads of two states.

The Tajik foreign minister also highly valued the work of the former ambassador of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan, Nurlan Seitimov, who made a significant contribution to the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Kazakhstan is ready to cooperate with Zimbabwe in the mining industry and in the supply of agricultural products, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh media.

The remarks were made by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at a briefing on the results of the official visit of the Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Kazakhstan.

"We have met at the level of heads of state for the first time since 1992, when we established diplomatic relations. This meeting is of particular historical importance for the development of relations between Kazakhstan and Zimbabwe and for strengthening cooperation between the regions of Central Asia and South Africa," Nazarbayev said.

He noted that the parties discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views. The president noted that trade cooperation between the countries is at a low level.

"There is an opportunity to establish cooperation in certain areas. Our countries are similar. Zimbabwe is very rich in its subsoil and various minerals. Our countries are also similar in agriculture. Therefore, Kazakhstan is ready to consider cooperation in the mining industry and supply of food, wheat, meat and other agricultural products," said Nazarbayev.

It should be noted that presently Kazakhstan imports only tobacco from Zimbabwe. Kazakh enterprises are involved in joint mining projects in Zimbabwe.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Zimbabwe were established in 1992. The trade turnover between the two countries in January-October 2018 amounted to $637,000, which is 24.7 percent higher than in the same period of 2017.
