BEIRUT (AP) — The leader of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said Sunday that Iran's missile attacks on two bases in Iraq housing U.S. forces was only the start of the retaliation for America's killing a top Iranian general in a drone strike.

Hassan Nasrallah described Iran's ballistic missile response as a “slap” to Washington, one that sent a message. The limited strikes caused no casualties and appeared to be mainly a show of force.

The leader of Hezbollah, which is closely aligned with Iran, said the strikes were the "first step down a long path" that will ensure U.S. troops withdraw from the region.

"The Americans must remove their bases, soldiers and officers and ships from our region. The alternative ... to leaving vertically is leaving horizontally. This is a decisive and firm decision," Nasrallah said.

“We are speaking about the start of a phase, about a new battle, about a new era in the region," he added.

His 90-minute televised speech marked one week since the killing of Iran's Gen. Qassim Soleimani.

Nasrallah praised Soleimani for his steadfast support for Hezbollah. Iran's Revolutionary Guard has provided training for Hezbollah, which fought in the war in Syria alongside Iran-backed militias that Soleimani directed.

Nasrallah said that the world is a different place after Soleimani's death, and not a safer place as some U.S. officials have declared.

Iran had for days been promising to respond forcefully to Soleimani's killing. But after the ballistic missile strikes, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted that the country had “concluded proportionate measures in self-defense."

Nasrallah also praised the Iran's leadership for admitting to accidentally shooting down a Ukranian passenger plane on the night it launched the missile attacks. He called the acknowledgement “transparency that is unparalleled in the world.”

The plane crash early Wednesday killed all 176 people on board, mostly Iranians and Iranian-Canadians. Iran had initially pointed to a technical failure and insisted the armed forces were not to blame.

Hezbollah is one of Iran's main allies in the region and is a sworn enemy of Israel, with which it has had a series of confrontations, lastly in 2006.

Did the US and the UK just designate Hizbollah a terror organization?

BS claim (by Hizbiz) either way. Death of Sulemani helped Ayatollahs to re-consolidate authority over fanatics in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Sulemani was in Iraq for years running his operation freely. He never felt threatened from US, obviously a cooperation was in effect. Curious question is why would US end such a key cooperative and allow Iran and it’s proxies to saber rattling.

Hezbollah's idea of US leaving the Middle East is by Iran spreading more of its influence in this long term quest until it has took over remaining list of Arab nations they are aiming for then substituting US with Russia.

So again the target are the people of the region and not the US or Israel. If they really sought to counter the US they wouldn't try changing peoples religious beliefs and forming Shia militias. They would just support one of many Sunni militias in the region or even Sunni states. They have no trust from Sunni states because they try to assert themselves as master and others as slave. As evident with their political remarks towards Arab states, such as the Gulf, by threatening them that they will have to align with Iran's interests or be doomed.

Iran and its allies are weakening the Muslim world and harming the Middle East with their misguided and corrupt quest in the region. Arab leaders are also weakening the Middle East with their reliance on US and some European nations. And then finally the normal populations are ruining the region as long as they support and promote corruption and reject objective truths that God has brought down on us and is willing to guide us to them if we take the first step.

Human beings are approaching a point where they will be deserving of extinction and God's punishment is near. We are certainly at that point, but God will give one last chance during Mahdi/Jesus's era for us to repent and renew allegiance to God and declare to God we are innocent of these human beings who have gone astray. Then God will take away the believers from that era ending with the believers and Jesus's(AS) death and all that remain will be the shameful human beings who refuse to reform. And the horn will blow and they will witness the destruction and horrors of The Last Hour.

The earth cannot sustain us anymore and we have reached unparalleled levels of evil. Our time as the children of Adam is soon gonna come to an end. Expect to meet your Lord on judgement day and prepare for it.

Muslims are mistaken if they think Mahdi/Jesus era means Islam will come back forever and reign on earth for long period of time. Actually the Mahdi's advent is more like a major sign of the Last Hour. All believers will be killed off/die but they will surely make the words of God the highest again and will surely repent. And they will show more evidence of God, by how he will miraculously restore Islam and renew it in our society when people think religion is now a thing of past and will never be resurrected. And these miracles/evidences will be proof and help of God, due to his kindness and mercy on his creation to repent and return.

However, God will not make it so we become rich or take over whole planet. We do not need any of that and this earth will be left for evil people. And God's major punishment will come in the afterlife and God is patient for those evil people and has prepared for them much worse punishment than they can imagine and it is beyond our comprehension. He will not be easy with evil people.

So once these major signs begin, they will happen quickly and it is a warning that our era will come to an end and we are going to return to our Lord and meet him once again on the majestic judgement day. And what happens then is permanent, if God accepts you and grants you entrance to Paradise, you will remain there forever.... It's one life, one chance, people. Don't mess it up.
