Syria had arrived at a critical juncture after 5 years of war that killed a quarter of a million and rendered homeless a million refugees. Bassam Barabandi, a former Syrian diplomat who is based in Washington said that the indicators from a distance are all good regarding the peace talks that is to resume in the coming days. The vast majority is not hopefult that the fighting will end altogether with the efforts of negotiating peace could collapse.
