In the greater scheme of things, this will be mutually beneficial strategically. Costs and expenses are perhaps secondary in the context. It will probably be done in the same manner as the 8 subs that are being acquired from China.

Question is why Chinese will retire it, is it too old as it's ex Russian carrier, if its the case then what benefits it will give except high maintenance cost for that much old elephant

For the background as to its origins, I am copy-pasting the following from Wikipedia ...

[Originally laid down in 1985 for the Soviet Navy as the Kuznetsov-class aircraft cruiser Riga, she was launched on 4 December 1988 and renamed Varyag in 1990.[8] After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, construction was halted and the ship was put up for sale by Ukraine. The stripped hulk was purchased in 1998 and towed to the Dalian naval shipyard in northeast China.

The ship was rebuilt and commissioned into the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) as Liaoning on 25 September 2012. Its Chinese ship class designation is Type 001. In November 2016, the political commissar of Liaoning, Commodore Li Dongyou, stated that Liaoning was combat-ready.]

Already two new and much more modern aircraft carriers have been commissioned by China and by 2028 there will be more.
The very reason we are getting the J-15s. Initially, we would be sharing them with the Chinese and also learn to operate them from the Liaoning. By 2028-29, if everything goes according to plan, the Liaoning will start being operated by the PN independently. We would be getting all of our 8 Subs by then, from the Chinese, as well all of our Tughril Class Frigates.

We would be tasked with countering threats on and around the Arabian Sea. With the Chinese Navy operating nearby along the Indian Ocean to the south. Hence, in the future, this is how we will be safeguarding our and Chinese interests in supporting the Chinese.

Seems far-fetched at the moment. But the planners feel it may become feasible by 2028-29. Who would have thought we could afford 8 advanced diesel subs and several Type 054AP advanced Frigates? But they are happening. Let's wait and see.

ACs are for power projection, not defending Karachi from IN attacks. If we are going to get one, it can be for:

1. Protecting Chinese exports from Gawadar.
2. Protecting petroleum resources in the Arabian Sea.
3. Projecting power over the Middle East and India.

Pakistani J-15s operating out of Liaoning? Wow! But it does make sense.

It's a new engine, hence teething issues. Nonetheless aircrafts are upgraded and refurbished.
12 of them have landed, 14 more to come.

Things are being worked out, they are not as bad as I previously thought. So let's see when they are revealed, but their primary role will be naval.

IF PAF and PN are going for a twin engine fighter jet, which is unbelievable not gonna lie, why would they go for a carrier aircraft? Why not J-16? Aircrafts that are for carriers have a lot of compromises, especially ones launched using a Ski jump, airframe is lightened through reduction of systems, etc etc.

I have wondered about the same as well esp. the carrier borne version has extra weight due to the folding wings and re-enforced under carriage. The rationale is J11/16 are based on licensed versions of SU27/30 and China is not allowed to sell the copies.
J-15 on the other hand is based on an unfinished example of Su33 that was obtained Ukraine and thus not subject to same restrictions.

So a Pakistani specific Flanker variant which is a "J-15" in name only.
