Any chance of getting rid of the theocratic system at all?
At this point can't say, but these protests could very well change the external policy.

Secondly, the theroracy is in power, based on Sipah / IRGC.

IRGC's destabilization/ liquidation = death of Theocracy.

Russia is very concerned cause the protests concentrate in Iranian Azerbaidschan.
If the Regime gets overthrown this part of the country could join Azeri State. But this is a far theory.
I believe Mullahs will opress as Chinese did in Tianenmen with more than 10000 killed protesters.

"Russia is once again focusing on Azerbaijan’s attachment to Turkey and on its “Turkification” of the minority nationalities within its borders, something one advisor to the Kremlin says is a threat to stability in the region and to the interests of Russia and Iran (Ekonomicheskiye Izvestia, December 6)"

Joining Azerbaijan, is truly a bit too far fetched an idea, for now.

"we are on standby for the moment but if this countinues for few days we will side with people"

I can confirm, this is true.

Plus this letter by a Maj. Gen. of the Atesh / Army is making the rounds on social media.

What about Revolution Guards, the main power of the Mullahs ?
They are standing with the Govt, for now.

Rouhani might not survive, but will Khamenei survive?

Nobody can stand against its people, if they are united.
@khafee
I just contacted an Iranian who is reliable and was also active in the Embassy occupation.
He told me that the regime could fall this night. If the Revolution Guards don't follow commands. The Iranian Army is on the side of the people.

You are right, everything hinges on the Republican Guards, IF they pull back, the Mullah is out, BUT so are they.

If the Army aka Artesh moves in, it's game over.
