Since 1950 China had relatively decent relations with Myanmar but after a few incidents many are beginning to believe Myanmar-China are having somewhat distanced relations. In 2015 a bombing in Yunnan province which borders Myanmar killed 4 Chinese citizens and in this response China engaged and down a MAF MiG-29. after that incident Myanmar and China had a border skirmish and relations started souring afterwards, which also prompted Myanmar to look to the so called "New World" (Western Countries & India) for new trade agreements and weaponry aid. Due to Myanmar's looking into other countries for trade and other various reasons, China began upping their support for various groups in Myanmar such as the UWSA, Kachin State and other groups.
The United Wa State Army, more commonly known as UWSA is known to receive trucks, light armored vehicles and is sometimes considered better equipped then Burmese Govt. Troops. The UWSA even had their assembly lines to manufacture the AK-56 and Type 81 assault rifles locally and they also received high end weapons such as the FN-6 MANPADs.
here are some examples of China arming the UWSA with the ZFB-05 Armored car, Dongfeng Humvees and QBZ-97s
