Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk pledged to build "Gigafactory 4" in the Berlin area. Several countries have attempted to sway the company toward building a factory on their territory
Musk said via Twitter that Tesla "will build batteries, powertrains and vehicles, starting with Model Y" lower-priced sports utility vehicle at the factory.
Musk is visiting Berlin for the annual Goldene Lenkrad (Golden Steering Wheel) automotive awards organized by car magazine Autobild, an offshoot of the daily Bild.

According to Bild, Musk said the factory would be built near the construction site of the unfinished Berlin airport. Musk made the announcement after the Tesla Model 3 snatched the award for the best car in the middle/upper vehicle class.

"Everyone knows German engineering is outstanding for sure. You know that is part of the reason why we are locating Gigafactory Europe in Germany," Musk said at the awards.

Musk also said that Tesla would be opening a design and engineering center in Berlin, reported the Electrek magazine, a publication specializing in

German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier said after the announcement that there had been no discussion yet of government subsidies for Tesla.

"Subsidies have not yet been discussed. It's clear that Tesla — if it invests in Germany and creates jobs here, will be treated like all other companies in the automobile and automotive industry," Altmaier told reporters.

"That means we will treat all players who invest in Germany equally and without discrimination," he said.

"Tesla's decision to build an ultramodern factory for electric cars in Germany is further proof of the appeal of Germany as an automotive hub," Altmaier said.

IG Metall, Germany's biggest labour union, welcomed the plan. "This strengthens Berlin as an industrial location and creates jobs. We hope this sets an example," Birgit Dietze, IG Metall's regional head, said.
Musk has been speculating on a European production site for several years, and various European countries have mounted campaigns to lure the manufacturer to their soil. The Tesla compound in Berlin would be designated as Gigafactory 4, following the Gigafactory 1 in the US state of Nevada, Gigafactory 2 in the state of New York, and the yet-unfinished Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai.
"Tesla is coming to Brandenburg with a big investment," Dietmar Woidke, state premier of Brandenburg, which encompasses Berlin, said in a statement. "We lobbied for this for a long time in intensive talks and with good arguments."
Woidke told broadcaster RBB that the decision was a "huge success" that was helped by the fact that Brandenburg had guaranteed access to renewable energy in the future. He evaded questions on the extent to which Tesla would recieve subsidies.
"We are operating within the framework of the European Union's state aid rules. That applies to all countries in Europe, that is the framework we have. Of course we will do our best to create good conditions for Tesla in accordance with these possibilities."
what is not mentioned, is this : if the Berlin plant becomes a success for them, North Rhine Westphalia in Western Germany will also manufacture Tesla vehicles

Are you at all worry about the overall performance of the germane economy? What are the reasons in your POV?

German industry hit by biggest downturn since 2009. Output falls 5.3% in year to October, weighing on eurozone growth outlook.

It is very worrisome yes, however I don't see the "down spout" lasting long. A lot of this is because of Merkel's behavior, however Karrenbauer (our future Chancellor) has mentioned she plans to reverse a lot of Merkel's policies and starting driving the export up. the other problem though, that hits us, is the shutting down the coal plants (that will hit us really severely). for instance, it will hit North Rhine Westphalia, however they been focusing on other industries so it may leave an impact but not to severe, however the Saarland, their economy might be completely crippled due to the fact, that's one of their largest industries and not really focusing on other means for state growth. we will have to wait and see my friend

The Lufthansa Group will continue to offer attractive long-haul destinations from Düsseldorf in the summer of 2020. The two New York airports Newark (EWR) and John-F.-Kennedy (JFK) as well as Fort Myers (RSW) and Miami (MIA) in Florida offer travelers a strong North American program. In addition, Lufthansa Group continues to connect Düsseldorf with the Caribbean destination of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
The flights are operated in cooperation with Eurowings, which uses a fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft with 283 seats. A business class product is also on board on all intercontinental routes from the NRW state capital: Passengers benefit, among other things, from a comfort seat which, at the push of a button, automatically transforms into a two-metre-long bed with a horizontal lying surface (“full flat”). Premium Economy and Economy Class are also available for bookings. The intercontinental destinations from Düsseldorf complement the growing range of flights to attractive long-haul tourist destinations with which Lufthansa, together with Eurowings, is also present at the hubs of Frankfurt and Munich. All North American flights from Düsseldorf will be offered with a Lufthansa codeshare.

currently, Germany's greenest city is Freiburg, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Freiburg has managed to do this over the past decade
-400km bicycle paths were created +9,000 cycle parking spaces
-cycling traffic increased from 15% to 28%, vehicle transport from 38% to 30%
-building of the CHP (Combined heat & Power) plant reduced Freiburg's reliance on Nuclear power from 60% to 30%, and CHP share from 3% to 50%
-400 photovoltaic installations in the city which include the 19 story façade of the main train station, roof of the convention centre, roof of the soccer stadium, the solar settlement and the solar ship business park, solar factory, the Heliotrope a structure that rotates to follow the sun, roof of the city's waste management company
-since Freiburg is hilly, it's unideal for wind turbines, however the city does have 5 Turbines on the outskirts
-600 hectares of parks and 160 playgrounds providing greenery, recreation, and biodiversity, 22,000 trees were planted
-3,800 small gardens across Freiburg which serves as a private oasis to the city for fresh fruits and vegetables.
-a Green tower project is in the works for the start of 2020

A journey time of 1 hour and 40 minutes, no more transfers in Venlo and an extra stop in Helmond. The
Dutch-German steering committee
that’s investigating the possibilities of a direct train connection between Eindhoven and Düsseldorf thinks that this should be possible by 2025. A letter-of-intent has been prepared and will be signed by all parties in March.
A direct intercity service between Eindhoven and Düsseldorf is one of the core elements of EurekaRail, a joint project of the provincial authorities of Noord-Brabant and Limburg and the Ministry of I&W to promote cross-border trains. 2025 must be feasible because in that year new concessions will be issued in both Germany and the Netherlands. Railway operators can then pitch for the international connection between Eindhoven and Düsseldorf. The German government will play the leading role in this, but Dutch carriers will also be able to bid for the concession
In the Netherlands the train stops in Helmond and Venlo; in Germany, the trains will halt at many more stations. This has to do with the single track in a large part of the route. Once that has been solved, there can be a connection that’s six minutes faster.

The Berlin-Brandenburg Airport is a new airport under construction in Berlin, which will surpass Berlin's two other airports: Schönefeld and Tegel. The BBIA will have around 34 million passengers annually after it opens in late 2020 early 2021, with it being Europe's 3rd busiest airport. Lufthansa, Eurowings and EasyJet will be the 3 main carriers for the airport
