Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured a turbine supply contract with Saudi Arabian organisation Alfanar for two windfarms in India. SGRE will supply and install 206 SG 2.2-122 wind turbine units for the projects.
The two windfarms, which have a total capacity of 453MW, will be developed in Bhuj in the Indian state of Gujarat and are expected to be commissioned in 2020.
Siemens Gamesa India Onshore CEO Ramesh Kymal said: “Alfanar is already our customer globally and we are happy to announce this first deal with the company in India.
“Repeated big orders such as this certainly boosts our confidence and demonstrates customers’ trust in our capabilities. With the SG 2.2-122, a turbine made for India, we expect to deliver better value to our customers through innovative, tailor-made solutions.”

The company said that its SG 2.2-122 onshore wind turbine is suitable for the Indian market because of its low wind and low turbulence conditions.

Alfanar Global Development CEO Jamal Wadi said: “As one of the global players for developing renewable projects, we are happy to partner with Siemens Gamesa yet again, this time for part of our 600MW portfolio awarded under the SECI bids which we are developing in Bhuj, India.
“With more than 3GW of greenfield development in the pipeline for Alfanar in India, our main goal is to provide value and benefit to the community by partnering with reliable manufacturers.”
Since the start of its operations in India in 2009, Siemens Gamesa has installed 6.2GW of wind turbines in the country.

Siemens India has launched with Sinacon PV, a new generation of photovoltaic (PV) central inverters with an output up to 5,000 kVA.
The inverter is part of the Siemens new electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) solution for PV power plant installations.
These Sinacon PV inverter will be produced and manufactured at Siemens’ Kalwa plant near Mumbai for the domestic market as well as for export into the region.
The Indian renewable energy sector is the second most attractive renewable energy market in the world crossing 14 GW of already installed solar capacity.
The government is firm on its ambition of 100 GW of installed solar generation by 2022.
Harald Griem, Executive Vice-President and Head of Energy Management, Siemens Ltd, in a statement said: “Siemens is committed to partner the government in its endeavour to increased use of clean energy sources. The National Solar Mission ...aims to establish India as a global leader in solar energy. Siemens aspires to contribute to this with local value-addition in line with Make in India.”
A solar PV inverter converts the variable direct current (DC) output of a photovoltaic solar panel into a utility frequency alternating current (AC) that can be fed into a commercial electrical grid or used by a local, off-grid electrical network.
The Sinacon PV is equipped with 3 level modules, has an outdoor design for harsh environments with fluid cooling and can operate up to 60°C ambient temperature.
Local assembly

As a supplier of transmission, distribution and smart grid solutions, Siemens, in addition to the inverter manufacturing, intends to take up a local assembly of medium voltage inverter stations.
The new Siemens inverters and medium voltage inverter stations target large scale, ground mounted solar PV power plants, comprising of comprehensive eBoP solutions.
The eBoP solution enables solar power to be intelligently integrated into the grid.
As a leading solution provider, Siemens offers complete end-to-end planning, engineering, and financing, all the way to commissioning and service, including optimum interconnection of energy storage systems and complete microgrids.

Germany has announced to provide a soft loan of euro 120 million to India to help clean the holy river Ganga. Jasper Wieck, the Deputy Head of the German mission in India, said that cleaning Ganga is a tough task. He said that Berlin will utilise its experience to help New Delhi in strengthening sewage treatment infrastructure in an effort to clean the Ganga.
“We can only use our experience, it took us 30 years and 45 billion euros to clean Rhine river,” he said.
The official argued that river Ganga is twice the length of river Rhine and therefore, it is a tough task for the government to clean it in a very short span of time. “Length of Ganga is double its length, so this can give you
an essence about problems India is facing in cleaning Ganga,” he added.
Wieck said that under the project, Berlin will focus on extension and replacement of sewerage system including complete house connection, construction of sewage treatment plants of around 15 million litres per day. Also, the initiative includes construction of 13 sewage pumping stations.
“The purpose of the project is to reduce the inflow of untreated waste water in River Ganga and, thus, to improve the water quality of the river,” Wieck said.
Last week, an RTI reply had stated that the level of pollution in Ganga in Varanasi has increased compared to what was the level of pollution recorded before 2014 – the year Modi government had launched ambitious “Namami Gange” project to clean the river. According to the RTI reply, the government had allocated Rs 20,000 crore to be spent in the next five years. Till date, it said that a total of 221 projects have been sanctioned for various activities at a cost of Rs 22,238 crore out of which only 58 projects have been completed.
In 2015, Germany had pledged India an interest subsidised loan of up to euro 120 million through German Development Bank KfW to finance the construction of sewerage network and treatment plants. Wieck said that German development agency GIZ has prepared a ‘Ganga Box’ on the line of ‘Danube Book’. It will have all mythological, social-cultural and economic importance information related to the river. Also, it will contain suggestions to avoid polluting the river and distributed to people to make them aware of the importance of the river.
Earlier in May, Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari had set March 2019 as the deadline to clean the river Ganga and ensure 70 to 80 improvement in the quality of the water.

It is quite ironic, India spending money to construct these major statues, yet they aren't spending any money in fighting their hunger or cleaning the country, but yet want to be a super power by next year

from what I heard is this
Belarus is really helping India with their agricultural problems, helping them grow food and some say Belarus is to help build large farms in India

Germany is helping in clean renewable energy from wind turbines to solar panels, also helping clean some rivers and water treatment plants, as well as helping in India's "100 smart cities project"

India is also to spend $1 Trillion dollars cleaning around the country to help bring in tourism.
