Palestinian movement Hamas condemned on Saturday the killing of 12 people in an attack on French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo's offices by two gunmen linked to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).

A statement in French said Hamas "condemns the attack against Charlie Hebdo magazine and insists on the fact that differences of opinion and thought cannot justify murder."

It also rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comments, in which he compared the Paris attack to Hamas firing rockets from the Gaza Strip at civilians in Israel.

"Hamas condemns the desperate attempts by [...] Netanyahu to make a connection between our movement and the resistance of our people on the one hand and global terrorism on the other," it said.

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas called France's Francois Hollande to express condolences, Palestinian foreign minister Riyad al-Malki told AFP.

He said that Abbas assured the French president of "the solidarity of the Palestinian people and leadership with France after this terrorist attack."

Malki said that a delegation of Palestinian Muslim and Christian clerics would pay a solidarity visit to France "in the coming days."

The Palestine Liberation Organisation called for a public rally to be held in Ramallah on Sunday "in solidarity with France against terrorism."

In thinking about the picture, it sends a reminder that many Muslims throughout the world are peaceful people. You have radical sects of all groups of people all over the world. Just because you have a group of extremists who believe in interpreting beliefs in a particular way it doesn't mean that all members of the group see it the same way.

Our hearts go out to all the people affected by the Charlie Hebdo attack. Best wishes to you all.

I agree that killing can never be justified by the differences in opinion and principles that's why those who are behind the Charlie Hebdo attack must be punished to greatest extent of the law. And it's something that must not be let pass. They should be examples the cruelty of justice and not just morality. If killing them with the permission of the laws is the way for justice to be served, then be it.

Well done from them! Sending a message of peace and integrity as well as standing up to the bullying manipulative attitude of Israeli Prime Minister! :)
