Are you tired of getting dragged into arguments and never knowing how to get out?
Use a simple technique called "being the bigger person."
When you become the "bigger" person, the arguments stop.

1. Address the person on how the argument is going to affect both of you later on. Make sure to include key points such as stress, anger, and irritability.
2. To avoid retaliating in anger, breathe in deeply and count to a certain number in your head, whether it's from three to one hundred.
3. The only reason why people argue is that they don't want to feel defeated by their "opponent." If you realize that the opponent's feeling of victory or success in each argument will fade as you continue to act like you don't care, you'll be less hesitant to stop the argument.
4. If all else fails, ignore the person and walk away.

Not directed to the above poster, but before asking others to rise above petty arguments, make sure you aren't yourself someone who attacks people and insults them because of their opinion.

Secondly, know that when this is happening, you are not being a "bigger person" by allowing the person engaging in attacking others to do so. Your duty as a Muslim is always to stand for justice. If someone does wrong, try to correct it, if not with your hands, your tongue. And if you are too scared to even do that (or too cowardly), at least hate it in your heart.

Now days, we see to many Muslims who act all sanctimonious telling others what to do. But they never stand for justice. Some don't even understand justice since they never act upon it. So, when people get attacked on insulted, these mentally imbalanced people will, instead of stopping the injustice, will tell the person who was targeted and harmed unjustly, that they should "be the bigger person".

This sadly is the level of our ethical and moral degeneration, and why Muslims everywhere are being beaten, oppressed, exterminated. Survival for civilizations is, like all things, for the fittest. Muslims today have to show that they are more than vegetables if they are to survive.

Simple answer, do not get into useless arguments. When you argue with someone, make this a general role: either you educate or you learn.

Love your comment Lieutenant! Most people could use some education and learning. To be able to do both is a truly a gift! Have A Great Navy Day! Cheers!
