The Iranian backed Shiite fundamentalist organization suffered some serious casualties when it resolved to intervene in Syria to bolster Assad losing 1,300 fighters and thousands injured. There has been a significant change in its tactics partly due to its versatility but also exposure on how a world class army gathers intelligence, reconnaisance skills as well as special operation tactics and upgraded equipment. Hezbollah has built a drone airstrip in the Beka'a valley and deployed UAV's to provide aerial reconnaisance and targeting information for forces on the ground.

The UAVs require airstrip must be quite large. Smaller ones can be launched without an airstrip.

Anyway, it is only natural for Russia and Iran support Hezbollah. They are on the same side when it comes to fight the western backed various militia groups.

So it is a cat and mouse game. Each side backs numerous groups by providing them with fund, weapons, training, and intelligence.
