M9 pistol will be replaced

42% of U.S. Army Soldiers not satisfied of the M9 pistol. A little less than an half. Compare it with the 75% of satisfied Soldiers of the M16 and the tremendous 89% satisfaction of M4. This Cold War era pistol should come to an end and get replaced. Army thinks its more economical to phase out both M9 and M11 with the new pistol.

There will be a contest for a $580 million market from the Army, and it will be stamped so this may mean contracts with other Armies outside of US. The problems? Not hard-hitting, can't swap easily gun sights, can't add easily infrared lights or normal lights. As well, the bullets should be better as well.

What would you suggest the M9 to be replaced by? I know Glocks are some of the top pistols that could be used since they are among the most durable pistols around. From what I remember, the Glock is quite cheap aswell, which makes it cost effective.
