I have never been a proponent of shared assets. PN needs to have its own Strike Aviation Arm. No dependency on PAF. the C&C structure would insure, not just the IN but a lot more is adequately addressed.
sir you are right . you know better than us specially me but may be its due to budget .

Just an FYI ... only the Tornado ADV F1,F2,F3 can fire the BVRs and only the F3 (if I am not mistaken) can carry the AIM-120 AMRAAM ... the F1 & F2 carry the British Skyflash Semi-Active BVRAAM.

The GR1,2,4 are the strike versions and lack a radar and are dependent on TDL and are vulnerable without the Sky Shadow Jamming pods.

Knowing the PAF or even the PN Aviation ... if they go for these birds ... they would probably be the Gr4 with the Foxhunter radars (for BVRAAM capability) ... sort of a multi-role version of the Tornado.

If we get 36 of the so modified Tornado's, we would have the big punch platform that we had lacked in the past. The price would be a factor. How cheap it would be in getting them, remains to be seen. If they come cheap i.e. around 25$ mil a pop, then they would be an excellent acquisition.

The Tornadoes are not being built anymore. Saudia has 81 jets in there inventory and they are the IDS version used for multirole purpose. PAF might be getting these from Italy.

The Tornado IDS is the generic term for the Interdiction/Strike version (which don't have a radar) ... more specifically known as the Gr1, Gr2 or Gr4
Conversely, the Tornado ADV is the generic term for the Air Defense Variant ... more specifically known as the F1, F2 or F3.

The RSAF Torandos were later upgraded to the Gr4 status.

There is no mutirole version per se.

Yes the Tornado's are not produced anymore, but 7 squadrons were grounded by the RAF this April and the RSAF had 2 squadrons (I think). All 9 were Gr4 level and can be overhauled/refurbished and also retrofitted with the Foxhunter Radar. Giving it true a true mutirole (BVR) capability.

If the Tornado cannot carry a CM400 on each of its wings—-it is of not much use to pakistan.

Pakistan is better off collecting more mirages because of ease of service and knowing the product.

Because of its low flight ability it is extremely vulnerable to small arms fire in the day time---.

The only game changer that india fears the most is the JH7A because of its naval mission capability.

We are not dependant on Exocet even though we have them—- it is nit that we dont need them what it is that we have equally capable C802’s with much longer range and cm400 with much much longer range.

Hi,

But if for some reason saudia was able to hand these aircraft to us in a goodwill gesture plus the parts and weapons---there is no reason for us to refuse the package---.

If we are negotiating with the Europeans then we should work on getting Euro fighter from them, you are right if we can get a bargain from Saudia we should go for them.

If CM400 occupy HP at wings than where are we going to put the fuel tanks?
I think, if PAF got hold of Tornados, than those could be used as an escort package with jF-17 carrying one CM400!
