Why not PAC or TAI?
I googled "Khafee Senior Mod" and became a member (my first post here)
If Pakistan pays hard cash, it can ask LM for an offset package involving a LM F-16/C-130 service and upgrade center in Pakistan. That way, not only would we upgrade the F-16s at home, but we'd get LM to invest $100 m or so in Aviation City. OTOH it'd also give the Americans a deep insight of the PAF F-16 fleet and, potentially, our aviation development efforts. But getting the F-16 Block-72 at this point, especially with our economy, I guess some access along those lines will probably be asked of us.

Pentagon delegation to visit Pakistan next week
September 7, 2019

WASHINGTON: A high-level delegation of the US Department of Defense will be in Islamabad next week to meet Pakistan’s civilian and military officials, announced Assistant Secretary of Defence Randall Schriver.

During an event organised by the Pakistani Embassy to commemorate ‘Defence and Martys Day’, Schriver acknowledged the country's sacrifices and hoped that the renewed relations between the two nations would create "opportunities that we can capitalise on."

In his remarks, Schriver also expressed that ties between the armed forces was one of the strongest pillars and foundations for the relationship. "We are appreciative of Pakistani leadership in its cooperation in achieving the objective of peace in the region," he said.

Referring to Pakistan's efforts in bringing political settlement in Afghanistan, he said that the US is not across the finish line yet, but still wants to be Pakistan’s partner and achieve peaceful outcomes. "We appreciate everythingPakistan has done to get us to this point, and we appreciate the cooperation that we know we will continue over that very important work," he said adding, "Our intent is to be aspirational and talk about where we can go on the future and how we can even strengthen and improve cooperation, all the challenges that we have notwithstanding."

This year 'Defence Day' was also observed along with 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' to express solidarity with Kashmiri brothers and sisters who are currently suffering under the repressive lockdown by the Indian occupation forces for the last one month.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan said that throughout history, Pakistan confronted and overcome external aggression as well as terrorism and extremism. "This has only been possible because of the sacrifices made by the armed forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan," Khan said while paying tribute to the armed forces. He told his audience, "We commemorate this day, we pledge to continue to promote the ideals of peace, respect for human life and freedom not only at the domestic front but also at the regional and global level."

The ambassador said that some 13 million Kashmiris have remained imprisoned in their homes and cut off from the rest of the world. To remind the Kashmiri people that they are not alone, Pakistan was also observing the day as Kashmir Solidarity Day. "We have acted with great restraint and responsibility. However, there should be no doubt. Pakistan and its armed forces stand ready to give a befitting response and defend the homeland if anyone dares to breach our sovereignty or territorial integrity," he said.

Regarding bilateral relations between Pakistan and the US, Ambassador Khan said that strong and robust bilateral defence relations have been a hallmark of Pakistan-US relations. "Our defence cooperation and collaboration has always been a factor for regional peace and the promotion of our shared security interests," he said.

While speaking on the occasion, Defence Attaché Brig Kamal Anwar Chaudhry said that the nation shall always remember supreme sacrifices of the sons and daughters of the nation who laid their lives for prosperous tomorrow. Pakistan has turned a tide against terrorism at a great cost including the loss of more than 82,000 human lives. "Pakistan remains committed to peace in the region and beyond," he said and added that Pakistan's Armed Forces stand with Kashmiris in the fight for right to self-determination.

Hi,

The situation is extremely un-predictable at this moment---.

5 years ago---pakistan was in a position to be in total control of the region---it chose to stay ordinary rather than become extra ordinary---.

Couple of three months ago---it still got a life line from the emirates---and yet it failed again---.

So---getting the F16's---next to impossible now---even getting the SU35's next to impossible---.

The only thing left is some old and beat up Mirage 3 / 5---some JH7A's and the J10C's---.

Take your pick boys---.

MK US wants a deal own its term its common tactics what they are using. They will back to table very soon beacuse next time when they will negotiate with Talibs they will be in further weak position. It's good time to have deal and with little being tough they might get something more. Just walk away won't help them either

On the positive side more then Pakistan it's Trump who wants this deal badly even when most of his military advisors are against pullout from Afghanistan. He has to broker a deal before next year elections. This deal is more important now as nothing positive came out of North Korea.

He will make a deal trust me but he wants more from Talibs at this point its ploy he is playing. If US lost this moment and kept fighting yr or two they will be in more bad shape on the table talk reason limited troops too many enemies along incompitant Afgan Army with corrupt Afghan leadership.

What choice do Americans have ? Fight for another few decades? Spend 50 billion every year... supporting a regime which is doomed ?

America will do what they did to Sounth Vietnam... they will abandon them and leave their allies to be slaughtered . Anyone trusting American promises is an idiot.

A lot of people are waiting to settle their score ..... I personally see a great civil war where every country will try to settle their grievance on the battle field .....

Troubling times ahead .

I know people in power in Pakistan waiting for the right time to settle score for the 28000 young soilders and officers that sacrificed for their country. They can’t wait .

Trump is bluffing. He wasn’t getting a good deal and more importantly Talibans simply don’t trust Trump. Just look at the Iran nuclear deal to see how good Americans are in keeping their words.

Trump overplayed his hands.... he showed Afghan government that he has no problem abandoning them and not being part of any negotiations and to Talibans he showed the desperation of man needing to go to washroom while someone is in there already .

Talibans are not stupid. They have called his bluff and now he has no choice but to act angry and walk away.... only to return at the later date. Talibans and Pakistanis are not in hurry.... Americans are .

Pakistan delivered what we promised and it’s upto Americans now to decide what to do with it. Now it’s time for Americans to deliver to us what we need.

Current Administration only deals in Hard Cash. They don’t believe in pending payments. Yes small incremental payments will be released like the one we saw of 125Mil. But we are seeing any jump in a huge number. Cobras are the priority No 1along with the Third Party Transfer permission for Our T-129 Engines.

No country pays in full in one go for such large defense deals. Payments are made in tranches.

Pentagon delegation most likely will
Discuss Pakistan's Defence needs and look at our wish list etc. I expect to hear some positive news in terms of release of some equipment through CSF resolution.

They are not here to discuss coordination of border management or building a wall. Infact USA has been playing a double game by keeping the issue of Durand line alive in Afghanistan.

For those hoping to resolve the issue of T129 engines will also be disappointed. USA has zero incentive to let Pakistan buy those helicopters especially since they want to punish Turkey. They may offer more choppers to us and force us to spend 1.5 billion dollars with them instead.

Too many unknowns. By the way I am just curious if we still have the congressional approval for 18 F16 C/D that we did not buy in 2006, and Eight we refused to buy in 2015?

If they have an approval then we can still buy 26 aircrafts from them......

Provided ofcourse if we have money available .
