As per an article that I had read last month, it detailed the painstaking process of how ISIS convince young people to join them. With the daily skype to befriend strangers, the 6 months of bonding with their prospect is not easy. That sacrifice and perseverance is the main reason why they get recruits such as those 3 students from London. Their marketing scheme is complex but effective.

With the rise of social media, it's all too easy for ISIS etc. to spread their word. The disillusioned target audience are likely to be very malleable too. Of course, the media seem to pick up on every video they release too. ISIS know this and it just spurs them on to create more.

Yes, a
When I see the recent events both from ISIS and ISIL I do wonder how can such organization reach world coverage. The fact is that more than terrorists, they are also marketeers and their propaganda machine needs to be destroyed too.

Isil’s propaganda machine has to be destroyed

Yes, an organization can only last so long without new recruits..and it is mind boggling how many people seem to want to turn the world back to the 7th century with violence and opression. The young and the disenfranchised who want to spew the messages of hate throughout the world, need a platform to do it, and if the propaganda can be brought down it is something that has to be done.

Each time the media writes stories about ISIS or shares their videos they are unwittingly promoting the group. Radicals who see ISIS in the news most obviously will want to know more about them. If ISIS sympathizers learn that someone is interested in learning more about the group then they'll do anything to get them to embrace their [ISIS's] disgusting ideology. The media should ignore the savages and afterwards take the fight to social media but even then ISIS will still reach some people because it's relatively easy to create new social media accounts when old ones are deleted.

Not just social media josh, they also had the capacity to put the general media (press and TV) passing on their horrific crimes. For some reason it stopped, but it was a little too late.
