Russia fulfilled 95% of the state defence order in 2014 although the loss of Ukraine as a supplier of spare parts and components during the year hampered production efforts, the Russian Ministry of Defence has reported.

Russian deputy minister of defence Yuri Borisov said in a statement carried by the TASS state information service on 29 December that "the state defence order is almost never filled 100%" as "minor disruptions always occur".

The state defence order - the Gosudarstvennyi Oboronnyi Zakaz, or GOZ - is placed each year to ensure the incremental fulfilment of the over-arching state armaments programme (Gosudarstvennyi Programme Vooruzheniya, or GPV), which is currently running from 2011 until 2020.

But how are their economy going? They might be able to increase the order of their state defence, but how long could it last? Good economy makes order, without it everything couldn't last long. If Russia wouldn't be able stabilise its economy, then no order would really last. They would have to address also their economy if they want a long-term order and efficiency not only in their defence system, but in the overall systems of Russia. Once it happens, we can look up again on Russia as it'd reclaim the power, or even greater than it once had.

Their economy has taken a hit because of the oil sanctions, however Russia is no dummy, I think they know these situations can not last long. If I were Putin, i would trudge forward and wait out the sanctions, because once the sanctions are over, and waiting it out could make them stop faster than anything else, because once they are over their economy will make a huge boost, then they will have control of the oil prices again. The USA will only export a certain amount of Oil and refined fuels to replace the sanctioned amounts put against Russia, once they meet their limit and stop exporting oils there no one else can send oil that way, Venezuela wont step on Russian toes because they are strong allies with Russia and China is in the same boat. So neither of those countries can go to far past their limits in fear of destroying the alliance they have with Russia, which leave it to a waiting game for Russia, just wait it out, continue with what you are doing and these sanctions will fall apart at the seams.

They need to focus on their economy a lot more than their military. You can't eat bullets.

You can't eat bullets, but it's amazing how far a people can go with an empty stomach on pride alone. If Putin's gamble pays off and a situation like what cyberpinoy described plays out, it'll be a huge win for Putin and the people won't remember their hunger for long. They're not so concerned about their economy. It's the prestige they think Putin is bringing.
