“This would give Russia the ability to deliver a guaranteed small-scale strike against a target of choice; if coupled with an ability to penetrate missile defenses, Moscow would also retain the option of launching a successful single-missile attack,” the Jane’s Intelligence Review report said.
Russia’s Secret Hypersonic Nuclear Missile Yu-71 Can Breach Existing Missile Defense Systems: Experts

So Russia's new Yu-71 can apparently breeze through any existing missile defense and deliver a payload (conventional or nuclear) to pretty much any city on Earth and wipe it off the map.

Is this another step into a strange re-run of the Cold War? Because we seem to have the same building blocks of attempts at expansion, massing of weapons capability, and escalating rhetoric on both sides. Both sides have weapons that are real existential threats and we depend on the fact that, as Sting sang, "The Russian's love their children too."

Interesting that you can point to all this and say, "Cold War." You must be very well-versed.
Or is it the article which says all of this?
Anyway, I think that everybody should just get along. No need to develop advanced weapons. They should to the utmost extent negotiate, and use diplomacy.
