Turkish Special Forces capture first village in northern Syria
Aug 24, 2016

The Turkish Special Forces with Syria opposition forces reportedly captured their first Kaklijah village during this new offensive dubbed “Operation Euphrates Shield.”

The Kaklijah village located 2km south of Syria border, 5km west of Jarablus.

According to Faylaq Al-Sham’s official media wing, their forces captured the village of Tal Kaklijah after the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) terrorists quickly abandoned the area in order to reinforce Jarabulus.

ISIS has mostly abandoned the small area between Jarabulus and the Turkish border, leaving only small units to resist the advancing Turkish-backed rebels.

Turkish special forces entered Jarablus by land along with aerial support from Turkish F-16 jets, military sources said.

Turkish forces also used intense artillery fire as well as tanks in cross-border attacks against Daesh elements in Jarablus, officials said.

Later in the day, tanks crossed the border into Syria and resumed their operation inside Syrian territory.

According to military sources, some 70 targets were destroyed only by the artillery fire and tanks which were stationed on Turkish soil.
