This decision followed by a request by Afghani president. He has better relations with America than his predecessors. By end 2015 troops will be halved was what was claimed last year but this strong relationship have cause revised plans. Obama has said a major reason for this is the outcome of leaving Iraq too early.

I think it's a good move for both countries. Hopefully these troops won't be put into harms way unless absolutely necessary. I'm not sure we've gotten much out of our time in Afghanistan. To be honest, I think more troops should be in Iraq right now. We should have never abandoned that country to begin with.
