A new form of war

There has been a spike in knife and vehicle attacks in the middle East specifically in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians in the West Bank. The latter have apparently abandoned some of the older tactics of storming checkpoints and neighbourhoods with blazing Kalashnikovs which are prone to quick detection and resorted to knife attacks and using civilian vehicles as missiles on wheels against Israeli soldiers. This new element of armed struggle has caught the Israeli authorities by surprise. The genie has failed to be contained in the bottle.

One interesting aspect about the new surge of knife attacks is how international media tackles them. It seems there is widespread acceptance of Israel's designation of these attacks as "terrorist attacks", even though for the most part it seems the targets have been soldiers in occupied territories and not civilians.

Using knives is not at all effective and reeks of desperation. It is better in my opinion if Palestinians were to give up armed struggle in favor of non violent resistance.

It's difficult to accept that these knife attacks are terrorist attacks as being depicted by some media sources. The Palestineans are just trying a violent form of protest because of the Israeli occupation of their territory. I can't say I could condemn the Palestinians for trying to rid the outsiders from their territory. Are they different from the French resistance during the Hitler era?
