@Khafee : OR as said there will more be coming later. Is PN raising a squadron or two of their own?
Let them come first, then lets see. As it is people have been unable to digest the first 15.

Interesting. I wonder why we are going for J15 and not J16 which is using an AESA Radar?
J11 was the first version of the Sino-Flanker family and had a lot of advisory input from the Russians. Sinced it was a licensed copy of Su-27, Chinese are contract bound not to export it or any versions of it. J-16 is the further evolution and is in the same category as SU-30MKK (which China had also acquired). I believe it comes under the same export restrictions.
J-15, on the other hand was developed using a partially built copy of SU-33 that China had acquired from Ukraine. It has zero input from the Russian and not subject to any export restrictions. It has complete Chinese engine (WS-10), avionics, radar, and armaments.
I keep mentioning that if PAF gets these birds, they would be J-15 in name only (to circumvent export restrictions) unless we are getting existing planes that PLANAF wants to part with.
They will have a lot of cross breeding with J-16. I do not think we need the folding wings and the strengthened under carriage required for carrier operations. That itself will save 2-3000 kgs in weight.
These planes will be J-15P. I'll call them Fi'zai Hangor.

Or that :)

It is similar to F-7P inducted in PAF during late 80s. They already had some PAF input i-e MB00 ejection seats (God bless MB has saved lives of a few people dear to me), a primitive RWR system etc.
After a decade in PAF service, we had significant input into what became F-7PG (or MG Airguard). The double cranked delta wing, Grifo-7 radar uprated engine made it a very potent point defense fighter. I see similar trend here. PAF has had significant exposure to J-11/16 during Shaheen exercises as well as rumored training in China embedded with PLAAF.
