So in addition to J10 and J15...if PAF goes for a 3rd platform...isn't that too much splintering(like Egypt)?

I can't think of J10C(P?) or J15 not being able to handle whatever role this 3rd platform is for...so wouldn't more of J10 or more of J15 have been better?
Unless it's J11 or J16...both of which share a great deal of commonality with that of J15.

Just trying to put myself in Pak shoes, I would go for:
1. JL-9
2. High New Series of ELINT / EW aircraft.
3. A few more tankers
4. UCAVs

with having J-15 and J-10 what would be purpose of having another strike platform? what roles would they play?

F-16 MR
J-15 Naval
J-10C Interceptor replacing F-7
JH-7AII Strike replacing Mirage

Alas they are out of production and the chinese are already in muddy waters. Doubt they will give some from their own inventory.

The JH7 are already being offered by Chinese for export on cheaper prices (with upgrades available) as they are trying to replace them and other old era jets with J15 and other flanker variants along with J10s. However as it is called a bomb truck but it cannot survive in A2A encounters and considering the stealth factor along with latest defenses if they fire missiles from long ranges perhaps even multiple shots shall be encountered by enemy. We require a true multi role jet which can not only breech enemy defenses but may survive counter attack by enemy. The new J15 variant with some stealth features and AESA may be more suitable for this role though shall be much expensive than JH7b.

when you are CHEAPER PRICE it depends on how much cheap, regardless of being old if they are AESA equipped platforms given to us for dirt cheap than they will be a good force multiplier and good replacement for Mirage's as dedicated strike platform, now only if we can have that awesome terrain following radar from Tornado's in it

Sum as per professionals do not have agility not a multi role jet, it may have effective role in big AF like China but not in PAF. We require true multi role jets which can counter superior enemy SAMs and Jets. Just my opinion as per discussions on other forum and conclusions by professionals. MK is much eager for these platforms and in the end it is better to have something than nothing.
