Ukraine's Antonov will be the centre of the aviation industry's consolidation, the leading force of the country's aviation industry cluster, Ukroboronprom, said on 28 July. The decision was made at an earlier meeting of the national aviation industry heads, held in Kiev on 23 July.
Antonov's production is already recognised by the international community, and the latest models of the 'An-' family could raise the domestic aviation industry to a dominant world position, said Ukroboronprom's general director, Roman Romanov. Aircraft servicing has become another of Antonov's priorities, he said. Close co-operation between state-owned and private industry facilities is also planned.
