Are Middle Eastern countries more or less militarized after Arab Spring?

I know a lot of Middle Eastern countries had military dictators before the 2011 Arab Spring, and those guys spent tons on bulking up their militias. Now, after years of declining tourism and social convulsions, it seems like they wouldn't have nearly the same amounts to spend on their defense budgets. A lot of countries also had a change in leadership, but (like Egypt) it seems that military dictators are still in power. Do you think the Middle East as a whole is better or worse equipped than pre-2011?
