At least five people have reportedly been killed in a blast that occurred near an under-construction building on the Mall Road in Chaman on Monday, according to the police.

Around 10 others have reportedly been injured in the blast.

Security forces have cordoned off the area whereas the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital.

Expressing grief over the loss of lives, Prime Minister Imran Khan has strongly condemned the Chaman blast, and prayed for the recovery of those injured.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan also condemned the incident, and expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the cowardly attack.

He stated that terrorists wish to obliterate peace in Chaman to achieve their conspiratorial plans. Khan observed that the development of the Pak-Afghan border will serve as a protection from the criminal plans of anti-state elements.

The development of the border will put a stop to illegal movement of criminal elements, that will bring peace to the entire province, including the border areas, he said.

The CM further added that the government will ensure peace in the province with the cooperation of the province's people. "Protection of lives and property of the patriotic citizens of Chaman is the foremost priority of the government," Khan claimed.

The Balochistan chief minister condoled with the families of the deceased, and expressed the resolve for complete elimination of terrorism from the province.
