Bangladesh arrests Islamist militants

Five Islamist militants were arrested in Bangladesh by the elite security force which had also seized a large quantity of explosives it suspects were destined for the upcoming new year celebrations. RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) arrested a district commander of the Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from a Dhaka apartment, RAB spokesman Sazzad Hossain said.

“We also have found propaganda books and leaflets which indicated they were trying to recruit people for committing such attacks,” Hossain told Agence France-Presse.Bengali new year on April 14 is Muslim-majority Bangladesh’s largest secular festival.

Well, there have been some disturbing murders of bloggers. It just shows you how different people within the same country have become - one section is growing quickly and prospering, blogging about social change. And the other section is still in the 1700s, not growing and killing anyone advocating social change. Plus, they're killing people with cleavers, which is definitely not the way I would want to go. The great thing about Bangladesh is that the government there is serious about curbing the influx of terrorist propaganda.
