"People in Bahrain have once again protested against Britain’s announcement of a plan to build its first permanent military base in the Persian Gulf kingdom, Press TV reports.

The outraged protesters on Friday burnt the British and American flags in fresh anti-regime demonstrations.

Activists believe that the move revealed Bahrainis’ wrath at the United Kingdom and its support for the ruling Al Khalifa monarchy.

Britain and the U.S. are close allies of Bahrain’s House of Khalifa."

Bahrainis protest against British military base - Tehran Times

The deal to build this base has been agreed for well over a month now and many Bahrainis are furious that it is to go ahead. What are you thoughts on continuing the build despite the public outrage? Does it pose a security threat from day one and does it simply create a new target for terror attacks?

Iran spitting shit once again.

Those who voiced their objection are small number of Shias who are loyal to their Mullah/supreme leader of Iran. Whatever that dirty beard mullah say they follow.

Bahrain is now a Saudi state anyway, if those few don't like it they can pound sand for all we care.

Yep that's pretty much what i had summed up but it's managed to make a few big news websites over here! I think it's safe to say that the military base will be opening regardless of how many flags are burnt outside.

Iran is trying to export its internal issues to the neighboring countries and that is why the make a fuss out of everything happens in the GCC.

What's Britain's goal for establishing a permanent military base in the Persian Gulf? Regardless of what it is, why did they forge an agreement with the House of Khalifa without the citizens' consent? It's not like the Al Khalifa monarchy owns Bahrain and the Persian Gulf, right? Besides, setting up a permanent base has several implications. No wonder the Bahrainis are pissed. I would have to agree that this move will "create a new target for terror attacks." The enemies (terrorists) are fond of dragging innocent citizens into every mess they start. This method effectively impairs military morale after all.

The base is not going to be permanent. Its temporary until Iran come to an agreement regarding its nuclear program.

What does the UK want to do with a military base in Bahrain? So that it can get more involved in the action in the Middle-East? This does not sound for the UK or for the Middle-East. What we need are more initiatives towards peace not more moves towards war.

To achieve peace we need to solve these issues:

1- Liberation of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital
2- New Syria without the current blood sucker
3- New Iraqi government that respect its people regardless of their faith, background, ethnicity..etc
4- Iran nuclear program solved and regulated by the AIEA

I can follow your thoughts on some of these points. However, going by what had happened already, interfering in how a country is governed has not produced the results intended. For example, who is going to replace Assad in Syria? No government is not exactly the best alternative to a bad government.

What country are you referring to?

Syria is now in a big mess. The children murder is now a war criminal and must be held accountable for the crimes he committed against his own people. This is the responsibility of the international community. There is no interfering here. The Arab League issued a statement what the uprising erupted in Syria asking Assad to act rationally with the issue and meet what his people are asking for.

As for Iraq, both the previous and the current government are sectarian to the neck. A new civilized government need to take the leader otherwise the peace you are talking about will never happens.
