Effective against small insurgents.
I would say even more: more than effective against small isurgents and effective in some cases in general purpose battle missions. Moreover, quite good as a trainer. Practically the same aircraft, Yak-130, which was originally jointly developed with the Russian aircrfat manufacturer is primaly being offered as a training aircraft.
