The UK has its own naval units in the Gulf. Why want us to escort their oil tankers on their behalf?
I think, it is just taking shelter in Saudi territorial waters, till escorts arrive.

Any disruption to oil exports through Hormuz will be "major obstacle" to Iraq's economy: PM
09 July 2019

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Tuesday any disruption to oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz will be a “major obstacle” for his country’s economy which has too few oil export outlets.

His government was studying contingency plans to deal with possible disruption, including looking at alternative routes for oil exports, Abdul Mahdi said.
“Iraq has too few export outlets,” Abdul Mahdi told reporters at his weekly press conference on Tuesday. “Right now, most of the Iraqi oil exports are being done through southern terminals.”
“We need to diversify our export outlets,” he said.

The prime minister’s comments came in response to a question on whether tensions between Iran and the United States could affect Iraq’s oil exports via the Strait.

A vital shipping route linking Middle East oil producers to markets in Asia, Europe, North America and beyond, the Strait of Hormuz has been at the heart of regional tensions for decades.

Recent months have seen a bout of instability in the region, with six tankers attacked since May amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.
Many fear the tensions could affect the flow of oil.

Abdul Mahdi said as part of contingency planning, his cabinet had authorized the country’s oil ministry to move forward on two projects to bolster the country’s future exports.

The ministry was tasked with conducting feasibility studies and looking at investment models to build a major pipeline to export oil from southern Iraq to Jordan’s Aqaba port, he said.

The ministry will also look at establishing an offshore oil installation in the south.

Netanyahu warns Iran about range of new F-35 fighter

July 9 (UPI) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally viewed a squadron of F-35 fighter jets Tuesday, and warned Iran the state-of-the-art aircraft can fly anywhere in the Middle East.

Netanyahu made the remarks during a visit to Nevatim Airbase near Be'er Sheva.

Netanyahu held security talks with chief of staff Aviv Kochavi, Air Force Commander General Amikam Norkin and the Air Force Commanders' Forum during the trip.
"Iran has recently threatened to destroy Israel, and it should remember that these planes can reach anywhere in the Middle East, including Iran as well as Syria," Netanyahu said.

The prime minister appeared to answer a comment last week from Iranian parliamentarian Mojtaba Zolnour. Amid growing tensions between Iran and the United States, Zolnour said any attack against Tehran would impact Israel as well.

"If the U.S. attack us, only half an hour will remain of Israel's lifespan," Zolnour said.

Zolnour made the comment while Iran admitted to breaking the limit set on its stockpile of low-enriched uranium set in the 2015 multinational nuclear deal. It was Iran's first departure from the deal since the Trump administration took the U.S. out of the deal last year.

Iran said earlier this year it successfully fired a cruise missile with a range of more than 800 miles, and said it can reach Israel.

US claimed the drone was shot down at 10am local time. This video is footage of the drone filming the USS Boxer after 10am.
And it had to be "that" drone in question, that was shot down. It couldn't be another drone that this video is from?

US did not say there was many Iranian drones filming USS Boxer at same time, just one. No precedent for Iran using >1 drone for PG/SoH surveillance of same ship at same time. In fact, no official US statement at all. Usually there would be a CENTCOM statement. Zero evidence from US as well, why not show video, especially if <900m from boat as they claimed? Why not show wreckage?

Just Trump inventing stories, as usual. But people believe what they want to believe.
