Slovakia is interested in deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan in different areas with emphasis on economic and investment areas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia told Trend.
"Kazakhstan, as a World Trade Organization and an Eurasian Economic Union member, represents an interesting prospective partner for Slovakia in the area of economic cooperation, able to attract the interest of Slovak business community and contribute actively to strengthening their presence not only on its territory, but also all over the region of Central Asia," the source in the ministry said.
The source noted that the volume of bilateral trade and investment activities of the countries does not fully reflect this fact. The latest trade and investment statistics suggest significant changes.
Thus, export of Slovakia to Kazakhstan in 2018 reached 28 million euro and in comparison with the previous year increased by 8.1 percent. In turn, Slovak import was 5.7 million euro, registering a decrease by 35.2 percent.
According to the source, investments of Slovak companies in Kazakhstan at the end of 2017 equaled $4 million and there are 40 registered joint venture companies with Slovak participation in Kazakhstan in the area of construction, medical services, trade, various services and agro-food industry.
The source noted that Slovakia is interested in deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan and sees great potential for further trade development for both sides.
"Slovakia is interested in increasing its exports of machinery products, motor cars, medical apparatus and equipment, glass and rubber products, electrical devices and accessories. Kazakhstan could contribute to diversification of energy resources supply to Slovakia by exporting crude oil and natural gas. We would also like to see more Slovak companies coming to Kazakhstan, investing in the development of Kazakhstan´s infrastructure, medical services, machinery and automotive industry," the source concluded.

The Central Asian regional information center of NASA will be established in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Aerospace Committee of The Ministry of Defense and The Aerospace Industry of The Republic of Kazakhstan.
This was announced during the first international conference on water-energy security and the aerospace industry in Central Asia and Caucasus, which is being held in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan.
“Only Kazakh experts will work in the Geo-Information Laboratory. NASA experts will conduct expertise and training programs, private companies will be able to order services there, said Director of Agro Technological Hub, Marat Beksultanov.
Furthermore, during the conference, topical issues of the agrotechnological complex development of Kazakhstan and the USA were also discussed.
At the end of the forum, a memorandum of cooperation between the Astana Hub and the Asian Hub was signed. As part of the signing, the partners will conduct joint research in the area of agriculture.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Oman Najmedin Muhametali and the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Oman Hamad al Aufi discussed issues on cooperation development in the field of agriculture, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
These issues were discussed during the meeting held in Muscat city, the capital of Oman.
During the meeting, intensification of partnership between Kazakhstani and Oman's agricultural companies was noted. The Oman side expressed interest in increasing imports from Kazakhstan including cereals and meat products, as well as in the export of seafood. In order to intensify bilateral cooperation, the Oman side proposed visits’ exchange by the heads of agricultural ministries.
A constructive exchange of views on the provision of logistics to increase the supply of agricultural products of the two countries was also hold. In particular, the potential of the Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran railway line, as well as the International Transit Transport Corridor (Ashgabat Agreement), to which Iran, Kazakhstan, Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are parties, was noted. The parties also noted the need to intensify joint efforts to develop transport links.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development, akimat (administrative center) of Zhambyl region and one of the world’s leading mineral fertilizers manufacturer – EuroChem company- have signed an investment agreement for construction and use of mineral fertilizers manufacturing plant, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s prime minister.
The agreement signing took place during the working visit of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin to Zhambyl region.
The value of investments into the project’s implementation will be nearly $1 billion, whereas the plant’s capacity will by 1 million tons of fertilizers a year.
"The resource base of the plant will be phosphorite deposits of Karatau. The manufacturing technology will allow to manufacturing high quality phosphoric and complex fertilizers with minimal harm to the environment and with no phosphogypsum waste," the report said.
The plant will simultaneously manufacture some 120,000 tons of calcium chloride and no less than 400,000 tons of gypsum dehydrate a year, which will meet the demand of road, oil and gas, construction and agriculture industries.
The venture is to be launched in 2021, and as a result some 2,000 new jobs will be created.
EuroChem company is of the world’s leading mineral fertilizer producers.

Kazakhstan and Belarus continue negotiating export of Kazakh oil and petrochemical products to Belarus, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy told Trend.
At a meeting with ex-Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belarus Ermukhamet Ertysbayev in May 2019, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposed to activate negotiations on export of Kazakh oil to Belarus.
According to Kazakh Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev, during Lukashenko's visit to Kazakhstan, parties signed a preliminary agreement on export of Kazakhstan's oil and petroleum products to Belarus and on overall cooperation in the area. He added that Kazakhstan is planning on exporting from 1 to 3.5 million tons of oil and petroleum products a year to Belarus.
As noted in the ministry, oil export issues are currently undergoing negotiations and working consultations between the parties.
"The work of the draft agreement is underway. Logistics will depend on economic efficiency and will be determined in accordance with the agreements of economic entities," the ministry commented.
Furthermore, in order to plan the exact volumes of oil export, the bilateral agreement must be signed and ratified.
"Review of the agreement projects will be held within the framework of consultations of working groups, which will consist of interested government bodies and organizations of the parties," the ministry noted.
According to the data of Eurasian Economic Commission, value of Kazakhstan export to Belarus amounted to $63.5 million during first eight months of 2019, which is 24.4 percent less compared to the same period of last year. In turn, value of Belarus export to Kazakhstan was $526 million during the reporting period, which is 2.3 percent less compared to the same period of 2018.
More than two thirds of Kazakhstan's oil exports go to four importing countries: Italy, Holland, France and Switzerland. Kazakhstan also exports oil to most of the CIS countries. The largest and most promising deposits in Kazakhstan are Kashagan, Karachaganak and Tengiz fields in the kazakhstan's sector of the Caspian Sea. The largest oil companies operating in the region are Tengizchevroil, KazMunayGas, and North Caspian Operating Company
