Do you believe that Turkey would be able to draw the West into a war with Russia?

There has been the belief that Turkey's planned incursion into Syria will result in a confrontation between Turkey and Russia and that the West Would join Turkey in a fight with Russia. Do you think there is credibility in the belief that Turkey would be able to draw the West Into a fight with Russia?

Well, Turkey is a NATO member and in any case of war NATO members have to respond as per agreement. Russia is the aggressive force here as it has violated Turkish air space three times and which one violation was taken care of.

It might be possible for them to do, but it would probably require the manipulation of other countries or interest groups to do so. Israel or the UK would be a focal point for them being able to do that, but it isn't a good move. This is one situation where Turkey would be better off handling this alone, even if they would (and do) have NATO support with it. They do not want to start a war with the unstoppable Bear (Russia). Not like this. They could hold their own, and even if Russia did violate the error space, they would find it wise to forgive and make provisions and alternatives to war. Trying to do this cold Turkey would be a mistake.

History taught us there are no impossible things, epecially in this field. They have NATO with them but Russia is powerful and not without allies. Having said that I believe that Turkey shouldn't try to act smart and do this thing. It could be a good reason for start of a global two sided war. I believe that people are smarter than this and that people in Turkey will not try to intimidate Russia because that is not a smart move given the amount pride Russians have.

I'm not sure America wants a repeat of the wars and tense situations where Russia has had to be cornered and quieted. The US will be watching any incursions and tensions very closely but as said before it may not hastily lead a coalition against Russia but play a more supportive role while a European country commands the effort. Rest assured, if it reaches a point where US leadership is need to quell the rebel forces, the USA will make that move to reinforce its status as the leader of the free World. Unlikely to happen, yet all things are possible.
