Eastern Europe: civilians recieve military training

And why is this news? Most countries in Eastern Europe have had mandatory military service ever since they gained independence. This whole issue with Russia has very little to do with what has been happening ever since the Soviet Union collapsed.

I think this is a great idea. When you rely so heavily on the military there are going to be areas not covered. Being capable of defending your family, home, and country is becoming more and more necessary right now.
I wonder though if that military training would be of any value should Russia choose to invade any country in Eastern Europe. And with their [the Russian's] hybrid war strategy [instigating an insurgency then sneaking in weapons] to destabilize countries I think those countries should focus more on trying to get their citizens to be more patriotic. As long as they are united, Russia's strategy won't work and maybe they won't try to "cause trouble."
