Are you talking about Mali? Africa is fertile yet very poor unfortunately.

Patrolling and giving any support to the UN troops if requested.
Is there a timeline for them being there? Seems like they will be there for good.

The french troops ?
They are deployed there since December 2013,(..... there was always french soldiers in CAR,but in december 2013,more soldiers have been deployed) and they will never leave. Though the number of troops deployed has been reduced. There was 2.000 soldiers at the first months of the operation 'Sangaris',then reduced to 1.700 and at the end of June, only 900. And will be probably reduced in the coming months following the deployment of blue helmets. It seems that at the end there will remain only something like 400-600 (or even less) soldiers as a "mobile reaction force" to support the UN troops.
