France considers air strikes on ISIS in Syria

By Reuters | Paris
Saturday, 5 September 2015
France is considering conducting air strikes on Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants in Syria, joining an international coalition led by the United States, Le Monde newspaper reported on Saturday, quoting an unnamed “high level source.”

Government officials declined to comment on the report, saying President Francois Hollande would express his views on the matter at a news conference on Monday.

France was the first country to join the U.S.-led coalition carrying out air strikes on ISIS in Iraq, but had ruled out doing so in Syria, fearing that would benefit President Bashar al-Assad. It has supplied arms to what it considers moderate rebels fighting the Assad regime.

But Europe’s refugee crisis, largely caused by vast numbers of people fleeing the civil war in Syria, the failure to push back ISIS and a rising presence of Russia in the region may prompt a change in policy, Le Monde reported, saying Hollande discussed the issue with his defence team at a meeting on Friday.

The refugee crisis in Europe, made considerably worse by the Syrian conflict, is likely to have far-reaching benefits ultimately for the War on terror. The fact that the problems of the region are now starting to encroach upon sovereign European nations and bringing the problem right into peoples homes will increase both awareness of the situation and a willingness to solve the problem of the middle-east for once and for all.

The core problem is Assad, if he's gone, dealing with terrorism will be much easier.

And now that Russia has made a commitment to help Assad stay in power there's the war will still rage on.

It's great news that lots of nations are willing to fight ISIS but for as long as Russia supports Assad, there'll be no peace in Syria. After the terrorists are defeated the proxy war will still be on. Russia, Iran and allies vs everyone else.

I'm glad that nations are now seeing the right path - joining forces to defeat the ISIS stronghold in Iraq and Syria. And I also believe that this fact (the prevailing civil war) is being in the limelight because of the Syrian refugees. Who would want to stay in a war torn country? Shades of the Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s when the communists took over South Vietnam.

France has recently started their attacks in Syria I believe and I think they are using their Rafale aircraft.

There was a piece about it on the BBC site a couple of days ago at least.

Russia are just agitating the West non-stop now. You might as well call it a dictatorship because Putin has a big chip on his shoulder. He needs to step down and let a more diplomatic and responsible leader take over, not that he will, Russia seems to like its dictatorial leaders as history shows.

I doubt that Russia is really interested in fighting ISIS. Assad knew his fall was inevitable so he was behind creating ISIS, his intelligence services let out terrorist prisoners and helped them create this group by letting them capture some positions in Eastern Syria, then they started expanding. In their first year, they didn't clash with Assad regime at all, they were fighting Syrian rebels and taking out the lands they had captured from Assad especially in Raqqa. Then, when ISIS got stronger and didn't need Assad anymore, they started attacking him, I'm not sure if it's an agreement between them or sth but they needed to fight eachother to make it look less suspicious for both the world and ISIS supporters.

If you ask why Assad created ISIS, then it's because he knew that's he doomed, he knew as well the world's weakest spot which is terrorism, he created it to force the world to the point that they have to choose one of the two, either Assad or ISIS, and of course they would choose the lesser evil, Assad. And this what is happening now.

However, we say neither Assad nor ISIS.

Putin said he won't be the president of Russia for life and would, as the constitution demands, step down no later than 2024. So he's still got about a decade to stir up trouble.

Earlier in September Putin said Assad is willing to share power. Will the rebels accept this offer now that it's obvious they won't oust Assad? Work with a savage who dropped barrel bombs on innocent people?

Well Russia beat them to it and is apparently aiding government forces by attacking opposition forces who aren't necessarily ISIS militants. Being the bully that Russia is, I doubt France can enter Syria's airspace when there are Russian jets there.

French aircraft were already conduction air strikes at least a few days before Russia started their air campaign in the region I believe.

French aircrafts will always strike Daesh, even if Russian aircrafts are here,no NATO aircrafts will pull out just to let Russia alone.....
Keeping ASSad in power will not bring peace in Syria, this mass murderer and the savage terrorists both need to be sent to hell.
