France says ready to strike extremists on Libya border - Yahoo News
PARIS (AP) — France said Monday its troops south of Libya are ready to strike extremists crossing the border, but the speaker of Libya's internationally recognized parliament rejected any Western military intervention in his country.
Enough damage has been done, yes, that's fact but rejecting help when it's offered isn't the smartest thing to do right now. Instead of fighting each other, the Libyans should unite, accept any help they get and drive out extremists who say they are loyal to ISIS. They've already seen what ISIS can do and what it has already has done in Iraq and Syria, why should they wait to find out?

France nonetheless is determined to fight jihadists regardless of what the Libyan 'government' says.
"We are making sure to contain the terrorism that took refuge there, in southern Libya . . . To do that, France is setting up a military base in northern Niger, 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the lawless Libyan border region.

But the French, for taking out Gaddaffi are to blame for all and any of Libya's current woes. If this is there way to make amends they need to learn something from what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan following the U.S invasion(s). Once a dictator is out of power there's no way to restore the peace and stability that previously existed.

Based upon what happened this morning I think it's reasonable to anticipate France will project it's force into and across Libya in order to root out terror wherever it may seek refuge. When 'the enemy' is killing civilians in the streets of Paris, public support for military action will be high, expected, or even demanded.

The problem with poking a tiger with a stick is that eventually that tiger will bite back. France is currently being poked. ISIS is going to get mauled. It's sad that it has taken the loss of innocent life in order to shock a population into supporting an attack. These people, ISIS, al qaeda, and their splinter-groups need checking before they are given the opportunity to spill more blood in our streets. I hold high hopes now of a significant French intervention in North Africa. I just hope that the UK government can muster the balls to join in hunting down and defeating our enemies wherever they may hide.

Pretty much, facing a terrorist attack countries need to fight back to defend themselves. Let's see if France won't get itself in a never ending war though.

I'm not sure if there is even such a thing as a never ending war. NATO (at least, America) is at the apex of conventional and nuclear power. We're no longer living in a world of superpowers but rather of one hyperpower in the United States*. If necessary, the United States could project enough conventional military power to bring about the end of any conflict.

The only thing stopping that is the current status quo where human life - and to a lesser extent human rights - are held in high esteem by the government as a result of it's reliance upon a soft population for reelection. Even the attacks on 9/11 were not enough to weaken public opinion enough to allow civilian death.

The problem is that we're no longer fighting a conventional army. The last Gulf War when the Republican Guard was neutralised in just a few days was the last time we saw anything even close to a conventional war. Now our enemies hide among the civilian population and our forces, be they conventional or specialist counter-terrorist, have to fight with the equivalent of one hand tied behind their backs.

If France can develop the stomach to accept there will be innocents killed abroad to defend innocents at home, the 'war' against ISIS will be short.

Yes, after the tragic shootings of this morning, French resolve will certainly be high. While there certainly will be a response by France, I wonder where and who it will be directed against. It will be interesting to see which groups will claim responsibility for the shootings and whether it is linked to France's current military activities.

France is always ready. Come on! It's a superpower. Superpowers are always able to attack, the thing is its necessity. The attacks must be worth it, and not futile neither an immature display of strength. It must have a worthy cause that instead that it brings greater evil, it brings less evil. We can't really say that attacks and wars are for the good of the mankind, but rather for countries to respect the boundaries of each other, to know their limits. They are not alone, so each country must be in harmonious relationship. They may not agree with each other, but they should at least respect what they and they can't do. It's not really for the benefit of the humankind, because who we are to tell that humans are supposed to live this way or that way, only the next generation can tell it. None of us living today can say what and how we should be. It's the task of the next generation to decide upon it, depending on their present, which is their own challenge. But what we need at least is harmonious relationship to avoid more fatalities of what we so call oppression of the innocents.
