France says Qatar to buy 24 Rafale fighter jets


(Reuters) - France has been informed by Qatar that the Gulf Arab state intends to buy 24 Dassault Aviation-built Rafale fighter jets, the French president's office said in a statement on Thursday.

President Francois Hollande will travel to Doha on May 4 to sign the contract, which also includes MBDA missiles, the statement said.

I always knew that if a first deal is signed,others will come,congratz to Dassault and particularly the French defence minister JYLD (Jean-Yves le Drian),who "fought" like a lion to sell this fighter. (This man is with no doubt the best minister of this govt) 2 Rafale deals in 4 months,is really a great achievement. (We still wait deals from India and UAE).

yeah we need another deal with paris. and in shaa Allah i think there will be a deal with paris this year. im sure.
when the forging minister visited the king few weeks ago they talked about a 33 billion dollar deal. but they didnt mention anything about the details or in what field.
so i guess more will come soon

It seems that these Rafale will be at the F3R standard. (The new F3R standard Rafale will include a new-generation laser targeting pod and major software changes. The upgrades will complement the enhanced Thales RBE2 active electronically-scanned array (AESA) radar which will allow the aircraft to deploy the MBDA Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile , along with improvements to the aircraft’s Thales SPECTRA self-defence system and Mode-5/Mode-S-compatible Identification Friend or Foe interrogator/transponder.)

holande will be the first foreign leader in history to attend GCC leaders meeting tomorrow.
and this meeting before the GCC leaders go to US to meet obama in camp david. which is also a first.
so i think the message is clear. gulf countries trust france much more than US
