Israeli political establishment clearly decided ahead of time that they want to launch an aerial assault and maybe ground assault on Gaza considering they're attacking very heavily and not stopping. Despite Palestinian factions limiting fire to mortar strikes across the border against IDF infrastructure.

10 Palestinians have now been killed, with 60 plus injured. Hamas hasn't joined the fighting but it has to now that Israel is striking heavily.

The Israeli attacks are ongoing, most recent strike:

..
..

And now there are airstrikes on Gaza city.

..
..

Hamas was preparing for Palestinian elections, and the rest of the factions were clearly caught off guard and not prepared. When they should have been expecting this and on maximum alert. Hamas is not involved yet probably because they don't want a wider war and want the elections to move forward.

More airstrikes on Gaza city and northern Gaza. It is close to midnight in Gaza. Israeli's like to attack at this time as they know Palestinian factions can't fire much at night since it is easier for the launchers to be exposed.

Israeli's may try sudden limited ground incursions as well. They have lots of deployment along the border now.

Breaking: Israeli air strike on Damascus, could be targeting Palestinian leadership based there once again

^^

News turns out to be not true. Meanwhile for the last hour it has been calm and reports that Egypt is mediating between the two sides.

Edit: Seems like Egypt is talking to Israel. Palestinian side has not been involved in the talks for now. It's unlikely this is all there is to the response. Situation could continue for a few more days.

No ceasefire has been reached. Since there is a siege and continued attacks on Gaza. There has been nothing reasonable or just towards the Palestinian side in these talks. Can't continue like that.

Wednesday, November 13

Dozens of houses damaged by Israeli strikes

Officials in Gaza said more than 50 air raids and 21 artillery attacks targeted Palestinian homes, agricultural lands, poultry and vegetable farms, as well as positions belonging to the "resistance", Maan News Agency reported.

The enclave's information ministry put the total number of housing units damaged at 48 - some of which were "totally destroyed".

Two Palestinians killed in new Israeli air raid

Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesman for Gaza's health ministry, said two Palestinians have been killed in an air raid that targeted Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

One Palestinian has been injured, he added.

Egyptian officials said Nickolay Mladenoy, a United Nations Middle East envoy, arrived in Cairo to lead de-escalation efforts.

The officials cited by news agencies said Mladenoy landed from Tel Aviv and was scheduled to meet Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi.

22 Palestinians killed, 69 wounded

At least 69 others were wounded, he added.

Israeli air strikes have intensified since the morning. Israeli Cabinet members are threatening a ground invasion too. Palestinian factions have retaliated and target IDF troops/armory across the border with mortar fire and anti tank missiles.

Israeli air force is using suicide drones which can be seen in Gaza's airspace as well.

They have evacuated some troops via helicopters but no casualties announced by the IDF yet. Hamas seems to have joined the fighting. Ever since a strike this morning killed civilians near a mosque.

A building in Ashkelon was just hit by a rocket.

Israel has been funded heavily by the US with around $6 billion plus for air defense systems alone just over the past few years. Israel used to get something like $3.4 billion a year in US military aid. It increased to $4.2 billion around Obama's time. And Obama also gave another $2 billion for the Iron dome systems and Trump admin likely gave as well. So the Palestinians have to wear down these systems first before Israeli's begin taking casualties.

Also keep in mind Gaza is small and surrounded by Israel completely. And Israel attacks anything moving with their Air Force intended to take on multiple regional nations.

The IDF has also removed their vehicles farther form the border. And closed off many roads around Gaza. To prevent Palestinians from targeting them with anti-aircraft fire.

Moments ago:

Two Israelis lightly to moderately injured in rocket strike in Ashkelon.

Rocket hits building in Netivot too.

Rocket barrage fired moments ago. Iron Dome intercepting some. Israeli's have a heavy stock of those missile interceptors because of US funding. Which allows Israel to be more aggressive and be more confident in attacking its neighbors. Contrary to 'preventing conflict', like US politicians funded by AIPAC suggest.

An Israeli has been killed in a rocket strike in Ashkelon but the gag order is preventing the news from coming out(for now). Israeli's don't publish such news right away because they believe it increases morale of their enemy or if the strike is on their soldiers gives information to their enemy that they are hitting the right spots.

Meanwhile the Palestinian factions are attempting to hit an Israeli military base in Sofa with rocket/mortar fire. Although it's likely it has been evacuated from the beginning:

More rocket fire towards IDF bases across the border. And the Iron Dome is still intercepting some of them. It's unknown how many intercepters Israel has in stock. They haven't ran out yet. I'd assume hundreds in the south and hundreds in the north and hundreds in the center.
