Israeli strikes ended about 3 hours ago, and the IDF released a statement indicating they attacked several targets in response to the previous rocket fire from Gaza. So it looked like it was done and finished. But, they just suddenly launched more air strikes in central Gaza. So people are confused.

Fahd al-Astal, 16, died after being shot in stomach east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, ministry of health said.

According to Gaza's ministry of health, 16-year-old Fahd al-Astal died after he was shot in the stomach by the Israeli army east of Khan Younis.

Weekly border protests along the Israeli frontier were officially cancelled this Friday.

But local residents said a small number of mostly young Palestinians still approached the fence, an area in which Israel's military enforces a "no go" zone.

The Israeli army said it was looking into the incident.

Egypt is mediating between Palestinian factions and Israel in Cairo over the past week and meetings still ongoing for a 5 year ceasefire deal. Reports suggest that there will be a prisoner swap and an artificial island built off the coast of Gaza to allow for imports into Gaza to relieve the economic situation there that is created by the Israeli blockade. It has stalled because Israel is backtracking or trying to enforce new conditions and Hamas is not having any of that:

Gunfire and airstrikes heard across Gaza's northern border. Israeli media initially said the army attacked 3 Palestinians that crossed the border. However, now the Israeli media says there is no security incident. Some reports suggesting it was a training exercise by the IDF.

Israeli forces kill Palestinian near Gaza fence, wound two others

Video shared on social media shows army bulldozer removing body of dead Palestinian.

A Palestinian has been killed by Israeli forces and two others were wounded as they tried to retrieve his body in the besieged Gaza Strip, according to local media reports.

The incident took place near the separation fence east of Khan Younis in the southern part of the coastal territory, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Sunday.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) faction named the deceased as Mohammed Ali al-Naim, 27, and said he was a member of the organisation.

The Israeli military said troops shot dead a Palestinian who was suspected of placing a bomb near the fence

In a statement, the army said it "spotted two terrorists approaching the security fence in the southern Gaza Strip and placing an explosive device adjacent to it".

"The troops opened fire towards them. A hit was identified," it said.

Widely shared video

A video widely circulated on social media on Sunday appeared to show an Israeli military bulldozer move the body of the Palestinian man towards the separation fence.

In the clip, the sound of gunfire is heard and at least one man appears to be wounded. Other men then take away the wounded person, while the bulldozer lifts the body, reverses and moves towards the fence.

The PIJ said in a statement the video showed a "brutal crime".

A spokesman for Hamas, the group which governs Gaza, told Al Jazeera that the incident was reflective of Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories and its treatment of Palestinian people.

"There are hundreds of similar crimes that haven't been documented by the camera. Israeli occupation continues its crime without any legal or ethical deterrence," Hazem Qassem told Al Jazeera.

Israeli's killed the border troops inside Gaza's border and crossed into Gaza to drag his body with a bulldozer. That's a red line crossed and the Palestinians will have their word.

Israeli's choosing escalation, more than 25 air strikes and up to 5 Palestinians injured in the strikes so far.

Israeli's do not like taking responsibility for their actions. Palestinians response would have milder if they didn't desecrate the body of the man with the bulldozer. Instead, they refuse to take responsibility and are trying a different path of singling out one Palestinian faction(PIJ) by targeting them exclusively to try to sideline Hamas.

If they feel they haven't achieved what they want they will then target Hamas by surprise. This is why all the factions need to have a united and active role in the response starting from now.

Strikes in Damascus reported, may have targeted an Palestinian official. If that is the case then Israel is trying to achieve quick results and doesn't want to address root of conflict--- the occupation of the West Bank and siege of Gaza. It appears they don't want to take responsibility and delay the day where they will have to address the root of the conflict. Which is only going to make it worse for them.

If the strikes in Damascus did target an PIJ official then they want to disrupt the retaliation protocol for the Palestinian Military Forces and make the PIJ feel abandoned by its allies. They also want to make it very difficult for the PIJ to respond with more fire since the PIJ does not want to make a decision that can affect all of Gaza, alone.

Anyhow Hamas needs to get involved this time unless PIJ insists it can go at it alone. Israel can prepare rapidly for a ground invasion which will debilitate Hamas's ability to project firepower and thus will have had another achievement with that.

As I said, there are no PIJ targets in Syria besides a few offices and officials. Israel is trying to achieve a victory and for its domestic populace primarily with targeting PIJ exclusively and without having the escalation take place in Gaza since PIJ has no military presence in Syria. Also to keep Hamas out of the fighting.

Whether that works or not depends on significance of target in Syria and if attacks on Gaza persist.

Israeli's did try assassinating PIJ #2 Commander in Damascus yesterday but he managed to escape in time. Two other of associates were killed.

Situation continues today, although with less intensity by both sides. There have been some Israeli drone strikes and artillery strikes throughout the day.

I'd imagine this situation will end soon.
