Gaza factions on increased alert after heightened Israeli military activity

Don't take this twitter profile too seriously. However, the situation on the ground is real. There has been very heightened Israeli drone activity over the Gaza Strip in the past week and the factions are taking precautions and are on alert. Israeli's can't form a government as Netanyahu and other parties are not coming to an agreement. And whole issue in first place was due to Lieberman resigning following the special force botched operation in Gaza. Netanyahu may try to restore the confidence of the Israeli establishment in him by doing a limited attack on Gaza military assets. Anything is possible in this area. I'll post updates on this thread.

Palestinian news agency reports the following:

Israel informed Egypt of unusual activity within the Gaza Strip and Egypt informed Hamas that is the reason for heightened Israeli Air Force activity over Gaza in past days.

Israeli Air Force shoots down drone inside Gaza airspace. Earlier today, witnesses on the ground in southern Gaza saw jets firing air to air missiles. Some suspected it was an airstrike in Sinai at first. But, it later became clear what happened. The drone did not cross into Israel and wasn't close to Israel. So it is strange that they sought to enter Gaza air space and shoot it down.

A Palestinian faction was in a training exercise and part of that involved a flight test of a drone. An Israeli F15 entered Gaza airspace and shot it down in southern Gaza closer to the Egyptian side of border. It's an act of aggression and Israeli jets continue to fly over Gaza.

IDF jets shoot down drone over Gaza Strip

Israeli fighter jets shot down a drone that was flying at an “irregular altitude” over the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The military said fighter jets were scrambled when the aircraft was detected and they shot it down.

“An unmanned aircraft flying was detected flying at an irregular altitude over the Gaza Strip. IDF fighter jets were sent toward it and they intercepted it,” the army said in a statement.

Another rocket alert north of northern Gaza border. Reports of 7 rockets fired in total. It's part of response to Israel trying to enforce its conditions on the Palestinian militant factions. Which was targeting their drone inventory and capabilities by shooting down drones over Gaza air space. Another part of it is the ongoing siege.

Some on twitter will claim it is PIJ trying to distract from Iraqi and Lebanese protests at the request of Iran. Such thing is not true. The Middle East is unstable for 7 plus decades now. Iraqi demonstrations are continuing and Lebanese PM already resigned, which means there is now going to be months long process in Lebanon for political stability. Gaza can't distract from any of that. And Iraqi demonstrations will likely intensify.

The reason for this is for Israeli Air Force shooting down a new(and expensive for Palestinians) homemade drone that was in the midst of a training exercise inside Gaza airspace. The Palestinian factions will not expect an Israeli policy of violating the ceasefire because they don't want them to develop certain capabilities. Today it is drones and tomorrow could be anything if they don't draw a red line.

Btw, it is likely the drone belonging to Hamas's armed wing and it is Hamas's armed wing responding. It's not even PIJ. However, if Israel sticks to its guns of breaking the ceasefire, they will both cooperate to draw a red line to such policies.

Situation is going to get hot tonight. It may be bigger than we know. The Palestinian factions may have believed that Israel was readying to launch preemptive wide scale aerial assault on Gaza. And that was the reason for the daily security meetings between Netanyahu and his Cabinet. And the reason was not about Iran like they made it out to be.
