The Sa'ar 6 class corvette is based on the MEKO A-100 design from Germany and similar to Germany's Braunschweig-class corvettes. The main reason Israel ordered the 4 corvettes was to protect their EEZ where their Oil and gas fields are. The 1st corvette should be delivered by 2019 with the last by 2021. They will be armed with 1 76mm Oto Melara naval gun, 16 Gabriel MK5 Anti-ship missiles, a 32 VLS for Barak 8, 2 C-Dome naval point defense system (20 missiles per launcher/40x missiles altogether per ship), 2 Typhoon remote weapon stations and 2 torpedo tubes for MK54 Torpedoes. The Sa'ar 6 will also carry a SH-60 Helicopter.
--------------
along with 4 corvettes sold to Israel, the 2 countries agreed to sell 3 more Dolfin class U-Boats. The first of 3 new U-boats will enter service ~2027.

In May 2015, the Israeli Ministry of Defense has ordered four new patrol vessels with the German company TKMS (ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems). In March 2020, a picture was released on the Internet showing sea trials of the first new SA'AR-6 class corvette that was named INS Magen in May 2019.

The Sa’ar 6 is a corvette class ship that is built by the German company (TKMS) for the Israeli Navy. The ship is based on the design of the German-made MEKO 100 patrol corvette.

The Sa’ar 6 corvette has been build using stealth technology construction techniques in an effort to ensure that it is harder to detect by one or more of radar, visual, sonar, and infrared methods. The ship will have an overall length of 90 m, a maximum beam of 13.2 m and a height of 21.5 m. The displacement will be approximately 2,000 t.

The Sa’ar 6 corvette armed with an Oto Melara 76 mm main gun, two Typhoon Weapon Stations, 16 vertical launch cells for Barak-8 surface-to-air missiles,40 cells for the C-Dome point defense system, 16 anti-ship missiles, the EL/M-2248 MF-STAR AESA radar, and two 324 mm torpedo launchers. It has a hangar space and a platform able to accommodate a medium-class SH-60-type helicopter.
