a discussion about the Hellenic military, and of course the Cypriot militaries, their procurements of weapons, modernization of their forces. feel free to help me keep this thread up to date and have a decent discussion.
we are in their top supplier list. the others include Germany, USA, Belgium, France, Russia mostly to Cyprus though, Israel and Italy. but if you are talking license production. Germany, Austria and USA give them more production rights compared to others.is Austria a large supplier to the Greek Military?
quite the purchase for Greece. last year, a person from Lockheed Martin inspected the Hydra class frigates and proposed to upgrade similar to how LM is upgrading the New Zealand MEKO's currently.sounds like Greece is in talks with France for the FTI Frigate to replace the older Elli class frigates they acquired from the Dutch. the Greeks plan to acquire 2+2 which means they will acquire 2 from France in sent-away condition, while the last 2 will be built by Greek Shipyards. The Greek FTI frigates will be armed with the 76mm Oto Melara, 2 8 cell VLS for ASTER-15/30 Missiles, 8 MM40 Block 3 Exocet anti-ship missiles, 1 RAM launcher and MU90 torpedoes. of course sensors will include the Thales Seafire AESA Radar, Kingklip Mark 1115 hull sonar and CAPTAS-4 towed Sonar. Greece is also working on acquiring Gowind-2500 corvettes currently
