The test involved the launch of the single stage Ashvin Advanced Defence Interceptor missile from mobile launchers and successfully destroyed an oncoming nuclear capable Dhanush ballistic missile at altitudes of 20 to 40km. The Dhanush has a range of 350km. A consortium of 40 Indian companies were involved in the development of the missile shield.
