if we did not have internet or email then people would not be able to travel across the world to threaten their enemy as they would have no way of getting to the target or letting their fellow terrorists know where to go or where they are. In the old days when there was no cellphone, internet or whatever else people would have to go in a huge army which would alert the enemy, which would be useful today instead of having people emails they would be able to track people.

None of the Terrorists even today use cellphones or other means of communication. You may think ISIS leadership does, but that's not true either. Its harder to track these people because they don't use tech. The people who are getting caught and tracked is all because they're using tech. Anyone who's off the internet is a ghost in my book, and when these ghosts enter another country, they are hardest to stop.

As they say, any thing in this world is two-sided like having a negative and a positive. The benefits of the internet is sometimes obliterated by its negative. Take for instance the program or apps that can conveniently be downloaded. But the risk is the potential virus that can hit your computer. With the world events particularly the wars, the internet has now a role to play. Isn't it that ISIS is using the internet in recruiting members? They have a chat brigade dedicating their waking hours to chat with strangers in the hope of getting sympathy and an eventual indoctrination to their cause.

These terrorists are well organized, they would have learned from people like Bin Ladin that it would not be wise to use technology that would allow them to be tracked.
In the good old days, even though there were not advanced technology as now exists, they had their own form networking
which could readily pinpoint targets anywhere in the world, which facilitated espionage and counter-espionage activities.
In the past, many acts of sabotage was done by small commando groups from a foreign region. Therefore, it was not always depenedent on a huge army to make a strike.

That's a hasty generalization. Perhaps you can say the Internet has it advantages and its disadvantages. I wouldn't entirely blame it because at the end of the day, people are the ones committing acts of terrorism and other such crimes. The Internet has made our lives easier but with it comes new challenges. There are always two sides of the story.

I think tech is used by terrorists solely to spread propaganda and also brainwash and recruit young jihadis. The planning of terrorist attacks however has to be done off the net because they [the terrorists] don't want anyone to know what they are up to. I have to agree though the internet has made it a lot easier for terrorist organizations to get more young people to join their ranks and the only way that can be countered is by treating Muslims with more respect.

Hmm.. well anyone who uses tech for terrorist activities will eventually get caught. But, yeah they are recruiting via internet and certain things are still not easy to intercept including some well known messaging apps.

They know better than to use the internet, or even encrypted transmissions on it. Since World War II, codebreakers have been able to determine and intercept transmissions. The people out there who are big time know this and wouldn't take any chances to even be on it. They would already have another way to communicate which is not obvious or going to place them in sight of their enemies. The only people who are going to use the internet for things like that are small-time gangs that try to get their foot in the door. Some are clever but most of them get busted really quickly, so it isn't something you should have to worry about. Like the other people here said, they are not using the internet for things like that. If they did at one time, they stopped in the 90's when control over it started to tighten.

The internet has played both a positive role and a negative role in modern society. People spring up stories and keep sharing it on social media like it was true causing harm and damage. The internet has also been used to recruit terrorists and make damaging communications to tear countries apart. I hope there could be a software to monitor and determine all these forms of communication to debar crises from happening in the world in the near future.
