Kerry said that's true, but "at this point, this negotiation could go either way."
Kerry: Nuke talks with Iran make progress
The Iran nuclear talks are a bit of a lose/lose scenario for Kerry. Any deal reached with be a compromise, so Israel and some EU nations will bitch about pandering to a dangerous state.
On the other hand what is the other option. Let Iran do what they like? Let the sanction keep grinding down a population that actually has the potential to be a stabilizing influence in the region being generally well-educated with reasonably good ties to the US (unlike their leadership).
I have a reasonable amount of respect for Kerry and his ability to come up with a rational deal. But it will play badly in the arena of broader international relations not matter what they come up with.
