Iran said one of its fighter jets had crashed in the southern province of Bushehr due to technical problem, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported, adding that two people onboard the jet were safe.
“The fighter jet crashed due to technical issues in the Tangestan area. Its pilot and co-pilot are safe,” Mehr quoted the governor of Tangestan Abdolhossein Rafiipour as saying.
Tangestan is a county in Iran’s Bushehr province.

On 4 August 2019, approx 12:30 hrs local time, a 61st TFS Phantom F-4E crashed near Tangestan beach, northwest of the home base of the 6th Tactical Air Base Bushehr.

Both pilots managed to eject in time. Their F4E Phantom crashed into the Arabian Gulf

A spokesman of the IRIAF said, the crew of the crashed F-4E reported technical issues before they ejected.

The IRIAF still operates some 40 to 45 F-4Es, of which some ten are operated by the 61st TFS.
Besides Bushehr, F-4's are operated from Bandar Abbas air base (3rd TAB, 91st TFS) and Hamadan air base (9th TAB, 31st TFS).
