Iraq's newly arrived F-16 fighter aircraft have carried out attacks on the Islamic State, Minister of Defence Khalid al-Ubaydi announced on 6 September.
To accompany the announcement, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence released footage shot by airborne targeting or surveillance systems showing airstrikes against a group of pickups and various buildings.
The delivery of the 36 F-16s ordered by Iraq was delayed when US contractors were withdrawn from Balad Air Base as the Islamic State made rapid gains in mid-2014. One of the F-16s then crashed during training in the United States on 24 June.
The first four F-16s finally arrived at Balad on 13 July.
