Law Enforcement in Japan

I did not know whether to put this in the defense category or politics, but I am writing a book where the main character is a police officer/detective in Japan. I cannot find any material in English about routine criminal justice procedure. Is there anyone on the forum that would be willing to talk to me about this sort of thing? I have several questions.
