The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) confirmed on 9 June that the United States is providing the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) with six Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano light attack and surveillance aircraft.
US defence officials in Beirut told IHS Jane's about the plan earlier this year, saying the turboprop aircraft was an appropriate platform for counter-insurgency operations in Lebanon and that the aircraft were expected to be delivered in 2018.
The DSCA said the US Department of State had approved the deal, which it said was estimated to be worth USD462 million and includes spares, including two additional engines, training, and support services.
